Objectives and main areas of work:
- assist in defining priorities for creative and research activities of theFaculty of Media Arts;
- conduct quality research taking into account modern knowledge and integrate research in the study process;
- participate in planning research policy of the Faculty of Media Arts;
- coordinate the work of creative and research centres of the Faculty of Media Arts;
- define terms and conditions forawarding annual research grants by the Centre of Digital Media and Geometrical Modelling of the Faculty of Media Arts, organise selection at different stages, select projects and monitor their implementation;
- with the assistance of the respective services of the Academy, establish cooperation with local, regional and international organisations, governmental and non-governmental organisations, private companies and diplomatic representations in the areas of research and culture; build contacts with foreign universities and businesses for the purpose of promoting the research output;
- with a view to supporting the academic growth of professors and researchers and internationalisation of their work, implement programmes and stimulate mobility (including by means of internships, exchange programmes, grants, fellowships, joint research projects, providing support for the participation of the Academy staff in international projects, etc).
- support international congresses, conferences, workshops, symposia and exhibitions in and outside Georgia;
- engage in the academic process and assist in the supervision of MA and PhD students.
Conservation Centre of the independent research unit at the Faculty of Restoration, Art History and Theory of the LEPL Apolon Kutateladze Tbilisi State Academy of Art

Objectives and main areas of work:
- conductdiagnostic analyses of artworks using interdisciplinary methods;
- examine and test conservation materials;
- study international experience in the field of education relating to cultural heritage preservation and conservation/restoration;
- studymethodologies employed in the fields of cultural heritage preservation and conservation/restoration and adopt international practices;
- providetheoretical and technical input for research and teaching;
- implement cultural heritage preservation and conservation/restoration projects;
- promotethe importance of cultural heritage preservation and conservation/restoration through symposia, conferences and congresses as well as printed and electronic publications;
- translate and publish specialised literature;
- cooperate with local, regional and internationalorganisations, governmental and non-governmental organisations, private companies and diplomatic representations in the areas of research and culture;
- with the assistance of the respective services of the Academy, build contacts with foreign educational institutions and businesses for the purpose of promoting its research output;
- with a view to supporting the academic growth of professors and researchers and internationalisation of their work, implement programmes and stimulate mobility (including by means of internships, exchange programmes, grants, fellowships, joint research projects, inviting leading professors to give lectures, providing support for the participation of the Academy staff in international conferences, etc).
