The Chair of Furniture Design was set up in 1961, which prepared up to 300 furniture designers.
In 2007, the Chair was transformed into the Direction of Woodcraft and Furniture Design to cover furniture layout for different types of interiors and woodwork design including installations and woodworking techniques such as wood carving, turning, marquetry, intarsia, types of veneering, modern technologies, etc.
Rasterisation and 3D rendering is applied in woodwork and furniture modeling. The Direction aims to educate highly qualified designers, to analyse the stages of the development of the profession and to become a full-fledged member of the European academic, research and creative area.
