Annotation:

One of the priorities of Tbilisi Apolon Kutateladze State Academy of Arts is preparation of specialists of different directions in the field of cultural heritage preservation.
The restoration-conservation is a very complex field and in addition to knowledge of conservation theory and practical experience it requires knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, biology) and humanitarian sciences (art history, iconographic and stylistic analysis of art pieces, etc.). In order to determine specific features, types and degree of damages of pieces of art and afterwards to properly plan and implement restoration-conservation process, a restorer needs theoretical knowledge in different adjacent fields. Taking all this into consideration, the program is focused on acquiring theoretical knowledge by students and on the basis of this implementing necessary restoration / conservation works (easel painting, icons) under the supervision of a manager.
